Setup & Installation

Our app requires a Jira and Google Workspace administrator to take action at some point in the setup process. Therefore, we strongly recommend involving both administrators from the start to ensure a seamless implementation of Google Workspace for Jira in your company or team.

 

Step 1: Install Jira App

Install Google Workspace for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace.

Permission necessary: Jira Admin

 

Step 2: Configure App

Go to the Settings page of the Google Workspace for Jira app, and activate your desired features. You can also activate or deactivate features on project base.

For this specific example, all projects in the instance will show the Gmail and Calendar panels. Additionaly, the project “Customer Project” will include the Chat panel.

Any added project configuration can be removed again, and if desired, features can easily be inherited from the global configuration again.

 

Step 3: Use the Jira app

Users can now use the Jira app. Users may need to authenticate to their google accounts when they first use the Jira App, see more information here.

Permission necessary: Jira Admin

 

Step 4: Install Google Workspace Add-On

Install Google Workspace for Jira from the Google Workspace Marketplace.

After installation no further actions are necessary from your Workspace administrator.

Users can now use the Workspace Add-On from their sidebar. Users may need to authenticate when they first use the Workspace Add-On, see more information here.
